MONTE MIGON

Monte Migogn (often called Migon by locals) is a panoramic mountain located in the Marmolada group, in the Belluno Dolomites (northern Italy), above the village of Laste di Rocca Pietore (BL). It separates the Pettoria River valley (Rocca Pietore, Malga Ciapela) from the Davedino Valley and Arabba.
• Altitude: approximately 2,384 m above sea level.
• Geological origin: volcanic rock.
It is famous for the “Sentiero delle Creste,” a panoramic hiking trail that runs along the ridge and offers 360° views of many of the iconic mountains of the Dolomites, such as the Marmolada, Civetta, Pelmo, Antelao, and the Pale di San Martino.
• Difficulty: medium-high (requires experience hiking on ridge trails).
• Time: approximately 6 hours round trip, depending on the route and starting point.
• Typical starting points: Capanna Bill, Passo Padon (also partially accessible by chairlift), Sottoguda, or if you live in Moè, from Davare (a hamlet of Laste di Rocca Pietore)
View
Once at the summit, the view extends over the main Dolomite mountain ranges with spectacular panoramas in all directions—which is why it’s a popular hiking destination for those who love expansive, bright Alpine landscapes.
It’s a less popular destination, also due to some exposed sections near the summit and along the ridges. Avoid when there’s a risk of thunderstorms or rain due to lightning and slippery grass.
