MONTE PORE
Monte Pore (2,405 m) is located in the Eastern Dolomites, between the Giau Pass and the Falzarego Pass, in a panoramic position between the Pelmo, Civetta, Marmolada, and Croda da Lago mountain groups. It is an elegant and isolated mountain, highly appreciated for the 360° views from the summit.
The mountain has grassy slopes in the lower part and more rocky and scree-filled slopes as it climbs. The summit is broad and open, with a summit cross and sweeping views: Pelmo and Civetta dominate the horizon, while on clear days, the view extends as far as the Tofane and Marmolada.
Most common route (from Giau Pass)
From the pass, follow the trail that gently climbs south, crossing **alpine meadows** and grassy slopes. The last section is steeper but still on clearly marked terrain. There are no exposed or secured sections.
Season and recommendations
Ideal season: June – October
Equipment: Hiking boots, windbreaker, water (no fountains)
Caution: Early in the season for any residual snow and in case of strong winds at the summit
Variants and connections
Mount Pore can be included in hiking loops that connect the Giau Pass and the Lastoni di Formin area, and the Mondeval plateau, making it an ideal destination for half-day hikes.
It is an easy but extremely panoramic peak, suitable even for inexperienced hikers, perfect as a first Dolomite summit or as a photo opportunity at sunset.
